Nike's women's surf film

Leave A Message trailer for Nike's female surfers. I'm posting mostly because I liked the song - - Cassette Culture - We once had an empire (jungle fiction remix).

Link roundup

1. Yahoo's reporting that Jamarcus Russell's life coach fired him.

2. TechCrunch reviews Nike's Nike+ SportWatch GPS. Doesn't sound like you get nearly enough value for $200. Probably makes more sense to buy an app, or the Nike+ Sport Band for a quarter of the price at Amazon.

3. "Look at This Fuckin Hipster Food Truck," the Tumblr. Sample post: "Look at this fuckin three-dollar sea salt." Via.

Sign me up for an Immersive Cocoon

Keir Dullea stars in this 2001-inspired advertisement for the Immersive Cocoon digital environment:

The video was directed by Oliver Zeller of adNAU, and you can see some making of photos here. And speaking of adNAU, here's a very cool spec advertisement for Nike:

Here's the full Black Mamba movie

Here's the full version of Robert Rodriguez's Black Mamba movie for Nike, featuring Kobe. It's really disappointing that they couldn't come up with a better zinger at the end.

Kobe Bryant in Black Mamba, directed by Robert Rodriguez

I guess he's fully embraced the ridiculous nickname he gave himself - - Kobe Bryant in Black Mamba, directed by Robert Rodriguez and starring Danny Trejo and Bruce Willis. Here are his latest shoes:

Here's the origin of the name:
Bryant started calling himself "Black Mamba" a few years ago, explaining to ESPN, "The mamba can strike with 99% accuracy at maximum speed, in rapid succession. That's the kind of basketball precision I want to have."
Here's Black Mamba by Joe Alterio:

And here's a Black Mamba t-shirt that sold out quickly:

Green Lantern's Ring, perhaps?

One of Nike's promotional stunts surrounding the national championship game:
Lightwave International uses over 200Watts of full-color direct-diode and OPS lasers to brand Camelback Mountain for thousands of fans at the 2011 Fiesta Bowl. These images were photographed from the Bud Light Fiesta grounds at sunrise.

The face of the mountain, approximately 2 miles from the laser projectors, becomes a canvas for a laser light show during the festivities. Projected images include massive versions of 'JUST DO IT.' The Oregon Ducks 'O' and the Nike Swoosh. The projected images are many hundreds of feet wide and using the world's largest full-color entertainment lasers.

Those Oregon Ducks uniforms

Before

and after the game promotional images by Wieden + Kennedy for Oregon and Nike

Here's a long explanation (defense?) by Nike about why the uniforms looked that way.

Nike+ SportWatch GPS

Now that my boys are getting older, I hope to start running again. The Nike+ SportWatch GPS looks intriguing:
Starting April 1st, get the extra push you need with the Nike+ SportWatch GPS powered by TomTom. Not only does it track what you do, it tracks how you do it, then makes you want to do it again and again. Here's how:

It's accurate.
The Nike+ SportWatch GPS combines the accuracy of GPS with the shoe-based Nike+ sensor to track time, pace, distance, calories burned, and heart rate. So you have your whole running history in the palm of your hand.

It'award-winning.
The watch just won two CES (Consumer Electronics Show) Innovation Awards in the Health and Wellness and Personal Electronics categories. Which is kind of a big deal considering that CES is the world’s largest consumer tech tradeshow.

It's motivating.
Onscreen run reminders help get you out the door. You also get props for personal records.

It's inspiring.
The watch connects to NikePlus.com so you can view completed runs, set new goals, and interact with a community of almost 4 million runners around the world.
Can't wait to see how expensive it is. Via.
